Colorado Moves To Recall Four Anti Gun Liberals
Thomas Jefferson once said ”Men by their constitutions are naturally divided into two parties: 1) Those who fear and distrust the people … . 2) Those who identify themselves with the people, have confidence in them, cherish and consider them as the most honest and safe..”
The democratic lawmakers of Colorado are of the first party Jefferson spoke of who fear and distrust the people. Just recently they aided in the passing of several of the strictest gun control measures in the nation and are now encountering the political reaction of recall initiatives by gun rights advocates.
In March Democratic Governor John Hickenlooper signed in to law legislation that banned magazines holding 15 rounds or more and required background checks for every firearm purchase and transfer.
However, two groups have set their sights on Colorado legislatures state representative Mike McLachlan, state Senator Angela Giron, Evie Hudak and John Morse and are working towards a recall.
Fox News reports that:
The petition drives are being organized by the organizations Pueblo Freedom and Rights Group. They will need signatures from 25 percent of the vote in each lawmaker’s district to trigger a special election.
The signature deadline is May 21. Colorado’s Secretary of State office confirmed with FoxNew.com that it has approved the forms for the petition drives.
Unfortunately Colorado lawmakers aren’t the only ones passing “fear the people” prohibitive gun legislation. Fox News also reported:
Connecticut, Maryland and New York also have passed tighter gun-control measures following the Dec. 2012 mass shooting at a Connecticut school in which 20 first-graders and six adults were killed. However, there are no indications of organized recall efforts in those Democratic-leaning states.
The well-publicized and tragic shootings in the past few years have breathed new life in to the gun control movement. Gun control is based on the faulty logic that these infringements do indeed keep guns out of the hands of the people they are intended to. They are also ignoring the fact that they are blatantly violating explicit constitutional rights and making law abiding citizens less safe. Today’s various gun control proposals are simply reactionary efforts to appease emotional outcry. In reality they have little, if any, substantive value fighting crime. Prohibitive gun legislation makes as much sense as banning alcohol to prevent people from driving intoxicated. Thankfully there are groups of the second party Jefferson spoke of, such as Pueblo Freedom, Rights Groups, and NAGR (National Association for Gun Rights) that believe in trusting people over government.
